About the position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking Schedulers & Cost Controllers to join our utilities effort in the Northeast USA. The Scheduler and Cost Controller will play a crucial role in producing a variety of regular and ad-hoc reports that support our project planning and control initiatives. This position requires close collaboration with all functional departments to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing an Integrated Master Schedule of the project according to owner standards and approved scheduling tools. They will maintain change control and the change order register, assess progress measurement, and develop/update progress curves for reporting. The role also involves managing Earned Value Management (EVM) during all project stages, performing current schedule and cost analysis against the performance measurement baseline, and highlighting major deviations between the original baseline and the current plan based on monthly updates. Critical Path Analysis will be a key responsibility, where the Scheduler and Cost Controller will identify and analyze critical paths/activities to ensure project completion on time and within budget, including forecasting delays and evaluating alternative scenarios. Additionally, the Scheduler and Cost Controller will develop, implement, reconcile, and maintain valuable project control databases and reports. They will manage the reconciliation of program controls data with financial and performance systems, ensuring the accuracy of all cost information and confirming that costs are properly coded and allocated to the project budget. The role includes producing required accounting and project cost reports, preparing forecasts and cost trend reports, and monitoring project costs against the budget and forecast. The Scheduler and Cost Controller will also support the manager in creating and administering project execution plans and assist in the day-to-day operational aspects of the project throughout its lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Produce regular and ad-hoc reports in support of project planning and control initiatives.
  • Develop an Integrated Master Schedule of the project according to owner standards and approved scheduling tool.
  • Maintain change control and the change order register.
  • Assess progress measurement and develop/update progress curves for reporting.
  • Manage Earned Value Management (EVM) during all project stages.
  • Perform current schedule and cost analysis against the performance measurement baseline.
  • Highlight major deviations between the original baseline and the current plan based on monthly updates.
  • Perform Critical Path Analysis to identify and analyze critical paths/activities.
  • Develop, implement, reconcile, and maintain project control databases and reports.
  • Manage reconciliation of program controls data with financial and performance systems.
  • Verify the accuracy of all cost information and ensure proper coding and allocation to the project budget.
  • Produce required accounting and project cost reports, including analysis on deviations, under-runs, and over-runs.
  • Prepare forecasts and cost trend reports.
  • Monitor project costs and commitment to budget and forecast.
  • Support the manager in creating and administering project execution plans.
  • Assist in day-to-day operational aspects of the project.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Project controlling/project cost management.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Construction Project Scheduling required.
  • Project management or project controls certification: PMP, CAMP, or PMI-SP or similar.
  • SAP experience required.
  • Primavera (preferred) and/or MS Project experience required.
  • Prior experience in substations, transmission, distribution, gas, hydro plans, or smart grids.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related discipline.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with project managers and subconsultants.
  • Good analytical ability and technical skills.
  • Articulate with a clear and analytical approach to problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Good communication skills.
  • General understanding of Project Management, Building Design & Construction, Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling, Building Cost Modelling, and Risk Analysis.
