About the position

The Scheduler I, Call Center position at Denver Health involves providing exceptional customer service by answering incoming calls, resolving customer requests, and directing calls to the appropriate areas. The role requires effective screening of customer requirements, assisting staff with demographic and medical information, and ensuring accurate patient scheduling and billing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Answer all calls in a courteous, respectful, and helpful manner utilizing interpretation services to facilitate customer communications.
  • Understand standardized scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellation guidelines to schedule patients appropriately according to requests and provider availability.
  • Maintain continuity of work operations by documenting and communicating actions, completing activity reports, and keeping equipment operational.
  • Determine customer requirements by answering inquiries, clarifying desired information, and taking appropriate action to resolve requests or transfer calls.
  • Resolve customer problems by clarifying issues, researching answers, and implementing solutions or escalating unresolved problems.
  • Educate customers on additional services and guide them to resources to enhance their experience.
  • Gather, verify, and update demographic, financial, guarantor, insurance, and patient information within healthcare applications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years of customer service or healthcare experience required.
  • Familiarity with healthcare concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent customer focus/service, people skills, listening, verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Knowledge of standardized scheduling, canceling, rescheduling, and attendance procedures.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Insurance referral and authorization process preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic math and type 40 words per minute.
  • Proficiency in PC applications (NT, Windows), healthcare applications, and phone systems.
