About the position

The Scheduler I position at The Christ Hospital Health Network is responsible for managing daily patient and physician scheduling using a Practice Management system. This role involves optimizing patient satisfaction and provider time by scheduling appointments, confirming them, and handling various administrative tasks. The Scheduler will also interact with patients and staff, ensuring a smooth flow of communication and operations within the medical office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily patient and physician scheduling using Practice Management system.
  • Schedule appointments to optimize patient satisfaction and provider time.
  • Confirm appointments and scan orders into Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Answer telephone calls and direct them to appropriate staff.
  • Perform patient check-in and check-out, including full registration and insurance verification.
  • Collect co-pays and outstanding balances from patients.
  • Maintain cash drawer and reconcile balances.
  • Verify referrals and perform pre-certifications as needed.
  • Order office supplies and maintain cleanliness of the front office and reception area.
  • Perform various clerical duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of customer service experience required.
  • Medical office experience and 1-year prior scheduling experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and social skills for effective communication with patients and staff.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of health insurance coverage and requirements.
  • Basic math skills for handling co-pays and balancing logs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records systems.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA privacy requirements.
