Responsibilities
- Receive phone calls and fax requests to schedule patients for outpatient tests.
- Complete pre-registration of scheduled patients and ensure a valid provider order is obtained.
- Maintain the scheduling system to ensure it is up-to-date with no conflicting appointments.
- Achieve a pre-registration accuracy rate within departmental guidelines.
- Demonstrate the importance of quality and integrity of captured patient information regarding confidentiality.
- Check insurance eligibility and educate patients on directions to the hospital, registration process, and required documentation.
- Accurately schedule patient exams in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements
- 1 year previous Patient Scheduling or Patient Access experience preferred.
- Office experience in a healthcare environment, medical terminology, knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 codes preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to multitask.
