The Scheduler position at DHR Health is responsible for coordinating the scheduling of medical procedures to meet the needs of patients, physicians, and the healthcare facility. This role requires effective communication, organizational skills, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. The Scheduler will work closely with various departments to ensure that appointments are scheduled according to policies and that patient confidentiality is maintained.

  • Promotes the facility mission, vision, and values by effectively communicating them to others.
  • Schedules procedures according to policies, nursing and department staff availability, patient needs, and physician's block time.
  • Maintains schedule according to procedure and physician's time and staffing requirements.
  • Coordinates schedule assessing time and equipment availability, identifies conflicts, and adjusts schedule as needed.
  • Accurately prepares the schedule for timely distribution.
  • Facilitates daily completion of the facility schedule.
  • Follows procedure for notification of changes in the schedule (e.g. cancellation).
  • Maintains and protects each patient's right to confidentiality.
  • Answers telephone and intercom courteously and in a quiet, pleasant voice.
  • Assumes clerical duties and responsibilities as necessary.
  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • One year of clerical/office related work experience in a medical or health care environment.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology is strongly desired.
  • Computer or word processing proficiency is required.
  • Strong customer service skills are a must.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to communicate in both Spanish and English is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent customer service training through the DHR C.A.R.E.S program.
