About the position

The Scheduler-Registration-Medical Assistant at Garrett Regional Medical Center is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clerical duties to manage patient registration and financial obligations. This role also assists with medical assistant duties as needed, ensuring efficient patient flow and accurate information processing in a high-volume clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Obtain demographic, billing, and insurance information from patients and enter it into the registration/billing systems.
• Complete managed care responsibilities regarding pre-certification and authorizations.
• Prepare necessary paperwork related to registration and obtain signatures from patients or guardians.
• Collect deposits, co-payments, and document payments in the registration/billing systems.
• Prepare armbands for patient identification and balance daily receipts and cash drawer for patient payments.
• Initiate various screenings and obtain pertinent information for coverage.
• Perform medical necessity checks and complete Advanced Beneficiary Notices as needed.
• Schedule, reschedule, or cancel patients according to hospital workflows.
• Check for order completeness and validate orders against scheduled services.
• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, preparing for physician visits by obtaining initial information and vitals.
• Assist with immunizations, medicine refills, and ECGs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• State criminal background check as required for state department of health regulated areas.

Nice-to-haves
