About the position

The Scheduling Specialist at Cubic Transportation Systems is responsible for developing master program schedules for complex programs and proposals. This role is integral to the Program Management Team, providing guidance to ensure schedules are logical and executable. The position requires strong decision-making skills and the ability to work under general supervision, with a focus on maintaining and analyzing schedule baselines and supporting proposal processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop master program schedules for complex programs and proposals.
  • Review contractual requirements to capture essential labor and non-labor elements in the schedule.
  • Interface with Program Managers and functional managers to develop detailed baseline plans and schedules.
  • Utilize planning tools for schedule development, including Gantt and Critical Path Method (CPM).
  • Perform maintenance and analyses of schedule baselines, including change control and critical path analyses.
  • Support the proposal process, including schedule development and resource planning.
  • Conduct formal schedule risk analyses using Monte Carlo-type analysis.
  • Prepare and execute data file synchronization between the schedule and SAP.
  • Develop and present schedule review documents to management and customers.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standard scheduling practices.
  • Work with PMs, CAMs, and PFOs to maintain direct budgets at the activity level.
  • Assist in developing the WBS Structure used within the schedule and SAP.
  • Establish strong working relationships between Engineering and Operations for a fully linked master schedule.
  • Provide training and guidance to other schedulers and project team members.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree in business administration, engineering, industrial engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Four (4)+ years of schedule management experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Primavera P6, including proficiency in managing complex project schedules.
  • Experience in Cost Management and Workforce Planning.
  • Strong knowledge of CPM, Gantt, and Line-of-Balance scheduling techniques.
  • Full understanding of various % complete methods and their applications.
  • Ability to develop complex master schedules within accepted scheduling principles.
  • Experience with other scheduling tools (MS Project, Open Plan) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Logical thought processes and attention to detail; ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform scheduling duties with little or no supervision.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Experience with other scheduling tools such as MS Project or Open Plan.
