About the position

The Scholarly Services Technical Administrator at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University plays a crucial role in supporting the university's research efforts and open access initiatives. This position involves managing various scholarly communication platforms, collaborating with faculty and researchers, and providing technical support to enhance the visibility and accessibility of the university's scholarly output. Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary administrator for institutional repositories (bepress/Scholarly Commons and Data Commons).
  • Provide primary technical support for the Research Information Management System (Pure/Portfolio) and OER publishing platform (Pressbooks/Eagle Pubs).
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Scholarly Communications, Electronic Library Services, and university IT.
  • Support collaborative partnerships between departments and integrations between systems.
  • Provide one-on-one training and technical workshops for university community members.
  • Contribute to policy developments in support of open access efforts.
  • Support the collection and distribution of statistics for repositories and Scholarly Communication initiatives.
  • Act as triage for the shared Commons email during normal working hours.
  • Supervise a small number of student workers assisting with data entry and technical projects.
  • Identify, review, and report on new technologies and systems for Research and Scholarly Communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Information Technology field plus 2-3 years of experience in Higher Education Systems, Libraries, or Digital Archives.
  • OR A Master's degree in LIS/IS, IT, Data management, Database systems, or related field.
  • Understanding of open access and digital curation.
  • Experience with vendor-supported software and enterprise-wide systems, preferably repository or database systems.
  • Experience with APIs and API standards.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Demonstrated experience with collaborative teams and cross-unit support.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated experience with digital preservation, digital repositories, and/or digital archiving.
  • Understanding of open data and open research and its role in academic research.
  • Demonstrated experience with enhancing or supporting digital accessibility.
  • Experience in academic libraries, or an academic research support unit.
  • Experience with Library Information Management Systems, and/or Learning Management Systems.
  • Understanding of Research Data Management or Research Lifecycle.
  • Experience with XML, LaTeX, Wordpress applications, Research Information Management Systems, OpenAPI schemas, Basic Python or Javascript.
