About the position

The Scholarship Counselor and Database Administrator position at the Child Care Council of Westchester, Inc. is a hybrid role that requires a motivated individual to manage the child care scholarship program while also maintaining the referral database. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks, and passionate about helping families access child care resources. The role is split between two main responsibilities: as a Scholarship Counselor for three days a week and as a Database Administrator for two days a week. As a Scholarship Counselor, the individual will be responsible for processing and promoting all aspects of the child care scholarship program. This includes processing scholarship applications, providing technical support to both applicants and child care providers, and determining household income and overall eligibility according to scholarship guidelines. The counselor will also support the disbursement of scholarship payments and make decisions on applicant approvals or denials, ensuring that all documentation is properly supported for review by a supervisor. Additionally, the counselor will develop and implement outreach strategies aimed at increasing eligible family participation in financial assistance programs. In the role of Database Administrator, the individual will maintain and ensure the accuracy of the referral database, focusing on provider data. This includes assisting in the expansion and updating of the database for referrals and statistical reporting. The successful candidate will need to be proficient in database management and data entry, ensuring that all information is accurate and up-to-date to facilitate effective referrals and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Process and promote all aspects of the child care scholarship program.

Requirements

  • Proficient in MS Office and Google Sheets.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to constructively manage conflict and respond clearly to inquiries.
  • Excellent customer service skills over the phone, via email, or in-person, demonstrating discretion, patience, and etiquette.
  • Familiarity with database management and data entry.
  • Entry-level experience in database administration (1 year preferred).
