About the position

The School Administrative Assistant at Bronx Charter School for the Arts plays a crucial role in providing administrative and operational support at the elementary school campus. This position involves coordinating office activities, managing communications, and assisting the Principal and academic leadership team in various school operations. The role requires maintaining confidentiality, preparing records and reports, and ensuring smooth workflow within the school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Principal and academic leadership team.
  • Coordinate and organize office activities and manage the flow of communications.
  • Handle routine issues and emergencies concerning employees and students.
  • Compile information and maintain a variety of records and reports.
  • Perform secretarial work including typing, proofreading, and filing.
  • Organize and expedite workflow and offer guidance to school personnel.
  • Assist with student recruitment and registration efforts.
  • Communicate with personnel and outside agencies to exchange information.
  • Greet visitors and provide information to parents and the public.
  • Support the Finance Department with financial duties and maintain records.
  • Prepare and submit purchase orders and expense reimbursement requests.
  • Compose correspondence and prepare minutes from meetings.
  • Update and maintain multiple calendars and organize appointments.
  • Assist with planning school events and field trips.
  • Administer first aid and provide health office coverage.
  • Track and order school supplies and maintain appropriate levels.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve.
