About the position

The School Age Counselor at Countryside YMCA plays a vital role in supporting the organization's mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This part-time position involves working closely with program staff to create a safe and engaging environment for children, adhering to YMCA policies and state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of developmentally appropriate activities and conduct these activities in a classroom setting.
• Adhere to policies as stated in the YMCA Childcare Policies and Procedures Manual and in subsequent YMCA trainings and meetings.
• Work as a team player, encouraging open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents, or co-workers.
• Maintain accurate documentation of attendance, absences, and emergency information for each child.
• Comply with all emergency procedures to ensure the safety of children and staff.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and materials; inform the Program Director when new/additional supplies are needed.
• Ensure that all staff and children respect YMCA property.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in first aid and CPR preferred, must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by obtaining recertification as necessary.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
