About the position

The School Based Building Substitute position at FRCS involves covering teacher absences for short periods, typically ten days or fewer. This role is crucial in maintaining a consistent learning experience for students in grades 5-8, ensuring that the educational environment remains positive and engaging. The substitute will work closely with the school principal and participate in professional development to enhance their teaching skills and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
• Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment
• Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground and in the cafeteria
• Participate in all school based professional development days and sessions
• Other duties as assigned by the school principal

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's degree
• Candidates are subject to background checks including, CORI clearance, and fingerprinting
• Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment

Nice-to-haves

• Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License
