About the position

The School-Based Health Center Medical Director, Family Medicine APP (APRN or PA) is a member of the health center leadership team and provides leadership, guidance and motivation to ensure the best environment for quality patient-centered care. The Health Center Medical Director is responsible for the oversight of all medical care and quality of services provided at the school-based health center.

Responsibilities

  • Works directly with the health center Practice Manager and providers to ensure a patient-centered, productive and efficient medical home and address challenges related to work flow, patient care, patient concerns, and incidents
  • Oversees the medical care and quality of services provided at the health center and ensures compliance with policies and procedures
  • Serves as a role model for professionalism, productivity and service to the community and is the primary liaison between PrimeCare and the school
  • Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of health center providers and supervises and evaluates health center providers
  • Fosters a professional working relationship amongst all members of the health care teams and with the school's administration
  • Works with the behavioral health staff to ensure the effective integration of care
  • Leads health center staff meetings
  • Collaborates in the development and periodic review of written clinical policies, guidelines and protocols for the functioning of the health center and responsibilities of the clinicians
  • Provide care to patients in a school-based health center, including care to community members of all ages
  • Participate in, and provide, after-hours call coverage, as assigned
  • Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury
  • Order, perform, and interpret tests and analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patients' condition
  • Complete charting in Athena and required paperwork within 72 business hours
  • Work one (1) evening each week and one (1) Saturday every four (4) weeks
  • 3 full days (6 sessions) of clinical care will be provided in school-based health center
  • 1 full day (2 sessions) of clinical care to be provided at another of our sites, location TBD
  • 1 full day (2 sessions) of administrative time - 1 session for clinical and 1 session for director work
  • Participate in health center and provider meetings

Requirements

  • Bilingual Spanish/English or Polish/English preferred, but not required
  • Graduate of accredited educational program with a master's degree in nursing or doctorate degree in nursing or physician assistant degree
  • Board certification in specialty must be kept current
  • Unrestricted, active APP license to practice within the State of Illinois
  • Active, current Controlled Substance license within the State of Illinois and federal DEA certificate, without restriction
  • Up-to-date provider-level BLS CPR
  • Prior experience in a school-based health center and federally qualified health center
  • Experience with Athena helpful
