About the position

The School Behavioral Health Technician at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth GlenOaks provides direct behavioral health care to students in grades 3 through 12 within a therapeutic school setting. This role focuses on assisting students with daily living activities, implementing therapeutic interventions, and maintaining a supportive environment that promotes mental health and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct behavioral health care to students in a school setting.
• Assists students with performing activities of daily living.
• Provides or assists with providing direct care, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic interventions.
• Observes and records behavior and activities of students.
• Reports any changes in condition and suggests modifications to the treatment plan.
• Establishes a therapeutic relationship with assigned students.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Licensure/certification in one of the following: Paraprofessional cert, Type 73 license, Teacher's Cert, LBS I, Sub Teaching Cert, Prof Educator license through the ILSBE, LPC, LCPC, LSW or LCSW from the IDFPR.
• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 months of hire date.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification specializing in Crisis Prevention credentialed from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
• Nurse Aide credentialed from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
