The Kiddie Academy of Williamsburg is seeking a Food Service Teacher (Chef) who is passionate about cooking healthy meals for children. This role involves preparing nutritious food while ensuring compliance with food safety standards, particularly for children with allergies. The position offers a rewarding work atmosphere in an accredited private institution that provides educational child care for children from infants to five years old.

Responsibilities

• Maintains awareness of children with allergies and food restrictions.
• Offers substitute items for children with allergies or food restrictions.
• Ensures food service area is free of nuts and nut products according to policies.
• Checks food labels upon receipt for compliance with allergy requirements.
• Follows daily menu prepared in collaboration with the Director.
• Implements changes in menus as instructed.
• Ensures meals are ready to be served on schedule.
• Assists with food ordering and calculates amounts needed.
• Maintains a clean and safe kitchen area at all times.
• Attends required staff meetings and school functions.
• Maintains a professional appearance as per the Employee Handbook.
• Assists in other capacities as determined by the Director.

Requirements

• Must meet basic requirements of local child care and food service regulatory agencies.
• Ability to relate positively to young children is essential.
• Previous experience in quantity food preparation is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. for child safety and emergency situations.
• Must be Food Handler Certified.
• Must have at least the first dose of the Covid-19 Vaccine.
