About the position

The School Clinic Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining the health and safety of students and staff within the school environment. This position involves treating illnesses and injuries, managing health records, and ensuring compliance with health regulations. The assistant serves as a medical resource and advocate, providing necessary support and communication with parents and staff regarding health concerns.

Responsibilities

• Treat illnesses and injuries of students and staff according to guidelines.
• Distribute medication and provide treatment in compliance with laws and policies.
• Maintain student health records and accident reports, ensuring confidentiality.
• Assist with health screenings and record daily clinic usage.
• Update immunization records and enforce state immunization requirements.
• Communicate with parents regarding student health and safety.
• Provide staff with necessary health information about students.
• Conduct health assessments, planning, intervention, and referrals for students.
• Serve as a medical resource and health advocate for students and staff.
• Assist in developing or revising health program policies and procedures.
• Maintain medical equipment and order necessary supplies.
• Adhere to confidentiality requirements regarding student records.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1-2 years of related work experience.
• Valid CPR Certification (or obtain within 6 months).
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local health laws and regulations.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Ability to evaluate illness or injury and determine appropriate action.
• Skilled in operating medical equipment such as stethoscopes and thermometers.
