About the position

The School Clinical Social Worker at Amergis plays a crucial role in supporting students requiring social work intervention within the school environment. This position involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to develop Individualized Health Plans (IHP) and Individualized Education Programs (IEP) tailored to the needs of students. The social worker is responsible for creating therapeutic rules, designing individualized service plans, and facilitating effective transitions between therapy and classroom settings.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes rules and procedures appropriate for a therapeutic setting within the instructional program.
  • Designs and develops individualized service plans based on IEPs and curriculum support using diagnostic information.
  • Utilizes available resources to bridge the instructional program.
  • Facilitates transitions for students between therapy and classroom settings.
  • Plans with the educational team for the prevention and intervention of inappropriate behaviors while maintaining student dignity.
  • Engages students with positive feedback and effective reinforcement techniques.
  • Interacts effectively with students, family members, educational team members, and external professionals.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of general development and the impact of disabilities on students and their families.
  • Utilizes community, state, and national resources to promote student safety and welfare.
  • Collaborates with educational support staff, student teachers, interns, and volunteers for student welfare and safety.
  • Adheres to Amergis and District policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Holds a Professional Educator License with School Social Worker (SSW) endorsement as required by state, contract, and/or facility.
  • May be required to have MSW or LCSW per state, contract, or facility.
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate as per contract or state regulation.
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and clients; proficiency in English is required.
  • Computer proficiency is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Prior school experience preferred; MD LCSW/LCPC required.
