About the position

The School Counselor Elementary / Academic-Student Success Coach position at Midway Elementary is a dual role focused on supporting students' academic and social-emotional development. The school counselor collaborates with students, parents, and staff to provide a comprehensive counseling program, while the Academic and Student Success Coach works directly with students to help them excel academically and socially, implementing intervention strategies and fostering a positive school culture.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate a comprehensive counseling and guidance program for students.
• Provide personal/social counseling and educational/career guidance.
• Support students in excelling academically and socially as an Academic and Student Success Coach.
• Act as a liaison between classroom teachers and students to monitor progress and address challenges.
• Implement and manage intervention strategies to promote student skills.
• Interact with students one-on-one or in small groups to provide support.
• Head up the school's PBIS three-tiered systems and coordinate social skills curriculum.
• Engage with family and community partners to enhance student culture.

Requirements

• Current WA State Teaching Certificate or WA State ESA School Counselor or WA State ESA Psychologist Certificate.
• Two years of experience working directly with children/youth in schools or equivalent settings.
• MA degree with valid WA State ESA counseling certification.
• Criminal background clearance and all required certificates, licenses, endorsements, permits, and vaccines.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with PBIS systems and social skills curriculum.
• Bilingual skills to support diverse student populations.
