About The Position

The School Counselor at Legacy Traditional Schools plays a vital role in fostering a safe and respectful school climate. This position focuses on supporting students' academic, personal, and social-emotional development through individual and group counseling, as well as implementing school-wide programs that address behavioral and emotional needs. The counselor collaborates with teachers and staff to identify student needs, facilitates workshops, maintains student records, and connects families with community resources.

Requirements

  • Holds appropriate credential/endorsement as a school counselor or social worker from the respective state Department of Education.
  • School counselor or school social work experience is preferred.
  • Travel between campuses may be required.
  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history and background check and/or other state specific clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling services to students to support their academic, personal, and social-emotional development.
  • Develop and implement school-wide programs and initiatives that promote a positive school culture and address the behavioral and social emotional needs of the student population.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to identify and address student needs and provide appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Facilitate workshops and trainings for students, families, and staff on topics related to student well-being, such as stress management, bullying prevention, and social and emotional learning.
  • Maintain confidential and accurate student records and reports, including assessments, progress notes, and referrals.
  • Analyze school-wide data to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for programming enhancements.
  • Stay up-to-date with current research and best practices in the field of school counseling and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Identify community resources, connecting students, families, and staff to them as needed.
  • Participate in special education, section 504, school attendance meetings and counseling services, as appropriate.
  • Work alongside other school mental health staff, school administration, and/or outside agencies to provide crisis support as deemed necessary.
