About the position

The School Counselor position at Fountain-Fort Carson School District #8 is a full-time role focused on developing and implementing a comprehensive counseling program for students. The counselor will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families to support students' academic, social-emotional, and career growth. This role involves delivering mental health services, designing skill-based instruction, and ensuring student safety through assessments and interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement student programming aligned with the three ASCA domains: academic, career/postsecondary workforce readiness, and social-emotional development.
  • Utilize evidence-based, trauma-invested practices to deliver direct mental health/social-emotional skill-building services.
  • Ensure student physical and psychological safety through evaluations and planning, including climate surveys and safety plans.
  • Lead and contribute to building-level teams and processes such as 504, MTSS, and mental health initiatives.
  • Collaborate with administrators, educational staff, families, and community personnel to create plans for student success.
  • Coordinate and evaluate school-wide events and initiatives, including suicide prevention and school climate initiatives.
  • Plan and implement effective transition programs to enhance student-school connections.
  • Implement crisis response counseling supports at building and district levels.
  • Support students in future planning, including course scheduling and career pathway navigation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in school counseling from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an approved program in school counseling.
  • State of Colorado certification.
