About the position
The School Custodian at Legacy Traditional Schools is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for students and staff. This role involves performing various cleaning tasks, ensuring the upkeep of school facilities, and assisting with routine maintenance. The custodian plays a vital role in supporting the school's mission by creating a welcoming atmosphere conducive to learning.
Responsibilities
- Cleans and maintains building facilities including classrooms, break rooms, and gymnasiums.
- Performs necessary room set-ups for scheduled meetings and events.
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums floors using cleaning solutions and equipment.
- Cleans and polishes walls, ceilings, windows, and building fixtures.
- Cleans entryways, hallways, and door glass daily.
- Dusts furniture, walls, and other equipment.
- Gathers and empties trash.
- Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms daily.
- Cleans and services cleaning equipment as needed.
- Applies wax or sealers to floors as directed.
- Assists in building security by locking and unlocking doors and gates.
- Notifies management of the need for materials, supplies, or repairs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two or more years of custodial cleaning experience required.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and products required.
- Ability to operate hand tools and small power tools.
Nice-to-haves
- Five or more years of custodial cleaning experience in a school setting preferred.
- Expert knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment preferred.
