About the position

The School Data Manager II is responsible for managing and maintaining student attendance data and demographic statistics at James Martin Middle School. This role involves technical clerical work, ensuring the accuracy of student data required by state and federal education departments, and supporting various administrative functions within the school.

Responsibilities

  • Collects all data required to maintain systems supporting transcripts, grade reporting, rank-in-class, student scheduling, and demographic data.
  • Verifies the accuracy of all processed data, recognizes discrepancies, and takes corrective action.
  • Completes all input documents and maintains student database via electronic data transmission.
  • Enters course master of all courses offered on campus into the database.
  • Requests, picks up, and distributes all student database products to appropriate school offices and personnel.
  • Communicates and works with other offices within the building, school district, and other school districts.
  • Plans and schedules tasks considering school priorities and the departmental calendar.
  • Implements and maintains a recordkeeping system for documentation of staff members and security roles.
  • Oversees proper reporting and recordkeeping related to student attendance and enrollment.
  • Ensures the maintenance of accurate student records regarding end of year procedures.
  • Collects and performs data entry tasks for all student data required by the state and federal Department of Education.
  • Establishes, collects, organizes, and maintains data pertaining to assigned clerical tasks and composes departmental reports.
  • Assists with the resolution of minor routine administrative and operational situations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of clerical experience with high competency in office software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents including safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of advanced principles of office administration and systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 products and ERP systems (Lawson or similar).
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with attention to schedules and deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various audiences, orally and in writing.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced urban school district or comparable governmental/public sector work.
