About the position

The School Floor Technician is responsible for the overall maintenance and care of floors in various educational settings, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are met. This role involves performing tasks such as dust and wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and shampooing floors in offices, classrooms, and public areas. The technician must adhere to safety guidelines and quality standards while representing the company positively in the community.

Responsibilities

• Perform overall floor maintenance including dust and wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and shampooing floors.
• Utilize protective gear during cleaning activities and adhere to safety precautions.
• Complete assigned cleaning areas according to schedule and report any equipment or cleaning product needs to the supervisor.
• Collect trash and recycling for proper disposal.
• Follow oral and written instructions and cooperate with co-workers and staff.
• Maintain a positive representation of the company while performing duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Janitorial experience, particularly in a school setting, is preferred.
• Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in floor care preferred, but on-site training is provided.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
• Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for extended periods.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous custodial/janitorial experience in a school environment.
• Knowledge of floor care techniques such as stripping, waxing, and burnishing.
