About the position

This position serves to foster external relationships with schools and districts to meet the needs of students for placements related to student teaching and field experience placements in the Office of Clinical Experience. This position works with students on placements and builds and maintains systems. The position also instructs and supervises multiple student teaching candidates per year.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with area schools and districts aligned with Hamline's MAT program.
  • Communicate consistently with MAT program faculty regarding school partnerships.
  • Facilitate communication between school partners and MAT faculty.
  • Serve on the Hamline-to-Hamline advisory group.
  • Establish partnerships with one middle school and one high school for guided clinicals.
  • Maintain records of correspondence and partner agreements for accreditation.
  • Attend bi-weekly meetings as a member of the Office of Clinical Experiences Committee.
  • Identify strong teaching placements for teacher candidates.
  • Organize the background check process for teacher candidates.
  • Send placement information to cooperating teachers and candidates.
  • Ensure Tier 2 teachers receive appropriate support during student teaching.
  • Facilitate successful experiences for teacher candidates and cooperating teachers.
  • Collect student teaching evaluations and facilitate communication.
  • Maintain an inventory of high-quality schools for clinical placements.
  • Communicate placement information to students and cooperating teachers.
  • Facilitate successful clinical experiences and promote communication.
  • Maintain clear records of correspondence and agreements.
  • Supervise student teachers and provide professional development.
  • Attend professional meetings as a representative of Hamline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited university or sufficient work experience.
  • Three years' experience as a teacher or related position within P-12 setting.
  • Two years' professional use of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, and database management.
  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel on and off campus locations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in education from an accredited college or university.
  • Three years' experience working with state licensure requirements.
