About the position

The School Patrol Officer (Crossing Guard) position at the City of Gallatin Police Department involves controlling traffic flow in and out of school zones during school hours. This temporary role requires the officer to work for one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon on school days, ensuring the safety of students and compliance with traffic regulations.

Responsibilities

• Directs traffic at assigned school zones for one hour at the beginning and ending of each school day.
• Operates school zone lights (if applicable).
• Gives verbal warnings to motorists exceeding posted speed limits in school zones while on duty.
• Appears in court off duty when warrants have been issued.
• Performs other work as assigned.

Requirements

• Completion of the eighth grade or equivalent education.
• Possession of a valid driver's license in the State of Tennessee.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years of age.
• Must meet physical and criminal records standards established by the Gallatin Police Department.

Benefits

• Pay of $40.00 per day for working both periods.
