About the position

The School Police Officer position at Quaker Valley School District is a full-time role focused on ensuring the safety and security of the school environment. The officer will engage with students, faculty, and staff, promoting a community-oriented policing approach while serving as a mentor and educator. This role requires collaboration with school administration and involves providing safety training and lessons to students.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with administrative staff, faculty, and students, including at-risk and challenged students.
• Serve as a mentor, educator, and law enforcement officer utilizing restorative justice practices.
• Provide necessary training and drills required for faculty, staff, and students.
• Deliver age-appropriate safety lessons to students regularly as directed by the building principal and school police chief.

Requirements

• Act 120 training as required under 53 Pa.C.S. Ch.21 Subch. D or graduation from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy with experience as a State Trooper.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Police Officer, preferably with a community-oriented policing background or as a School Resource Officer.
• Completion of a PCCD approved Act 67 School Security Personnel Basic Training course.
• Clearances including PA State Criminal, PA Child Abuse History, and FBI clearances.
