About the position
The School Social Worker at Fountain-Fort Carson School District #8 is responsible for enhancing the academic mission by providing essential services and implementing intervention strategies that strengthen partnerships among home, school, and community. This role aims to create a healthy, safe, and caring environment for students, addressing barriers to learning and empowering families and school personnel to access resources that foster student potential and success.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments, observations, interviews, and evaluations in accordance with family and student rights.
- Intervene for student success through crisis intervention, home visits, conflict resolution, individual and group counseling, and program development.
- Advocate for appropriate services and resources for students and their families, assisting them in accessing community resources.
- Consult and collaborate with stakeholders regarding issues such as attendance, mental health, and behavior management.
- Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and the IEP committee, contributing to the child's educational plan.
- Assist in the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of programs to meet identified learning and adjustment needs.
- Develop and monitor behavior plans and safety plans, implementing positive behavior support strategies.
- Maintain appropriate records and reports related to students, families, and interventions/programs.
- Participate in professional organizations and continuing education to improve professional knowledge and skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- MA Degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid (or eligible) Colorado Special Services Provider License endorsed as a Social Worker or Counselor
- Valid Driver's License
- Two years of experience in social work, preferably in a school setting
