About the position
The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) position involves supporting students with communication disorders under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in a school district in Houston, TX. The role is dedicated to helping students develop essential communication skills through individualized treatment plans and collaborative efforts with teachers and staff.
Responsibilities
- Assist the supervising SLP in implementing individualized treatment plans to support students' speech and language development.
- Conduct therapy sessions with students, following established treatment protocols.
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records of therapy sessions.
- Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to integrate communication goals into classroom activities.
- Provide support to the SLP in preparing materials and organizing sessions.
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences.
- Current Texas SLPA license required.
- Previous experience in a school or pediatric setting is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
