About the position

The Senior Pool Mechanic ensures proper function and performs maintenance on, repair of, or replacement of all major and minor systems associated with operation of City pools and pool features and the facilities housing them within parameters of certification and training. The major objective of this position is to keep all pools in operational condition, avoiding closures due to unsafe or unsanitary conditions, or faulty equipment or systems.

Responsibilities

  • Check chemical levels at pools, fill and adjustment automatic or manual chemical feeding systems, service filtration systems, monitor and adjust flow rates and deliver facility supplies
  • Ensure that pool plumbing system is in good working order and works to fix what can be done in-house
  • Responsible for the preventative maintenance for all pool pumps, feeders and other mechanized systems to ensure longevity over the course of the pool's service life
  • Communicate with the Program Manager on status of current repairs or projects
  • Recommend options for system repairs or upgrades, reports potential problems or equipment that might need replacement for planning purposes
  • Assist pool staff in proper operation of equipment and troubleshooting of facility issues
  • Make minor purchases that assist with keeping up with the day to day operation of the Aquatic facilities
  • Work with outside pool repair service technicians to ensure that major repairs and overhauls are being done properly
  • Work with service technicians on schedule of work, services provided, products required and other facility related issues
  • Drain pool for major service or repainting, order supplies for equipment and pool chemicals, coordinate with vendors and representatives on scheduled services and repairs
  • Assist facility managers with training lifeguard staff on how to check chemical levels, diagnose minor problems and standard sanitation issues at facilities
  • Attend training annually to ensure that maintenance is up to date and maintenance best practices are being utilized at the facilities
  • Must be able to perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years of related experience is required
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Must be able to obtain a Certified Pool and Spa Operator Certificate within six (6) months from time of hire
  • Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
