About the position

The Scientist, Product Development - Meats role at Kraft Heinz is a Research and Development position focused on leading product development initiatives within the Core Meats categories, including Oscar Mayer Cold Cuts, Bacon, and Hot Dogs. The role involves developing and executing work plans to meet business goals related to growth, productivity, and quality improvement. The candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, manage multiple projects, and communicate results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead product development project initiatives across Core Meats categories.
• Develop and execute work plans to meet business initiatives focused on growth and quality improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Operations, Quality, and Procurement.
• Design and execute plant trials, summarizing and translating results for various teams.
• Manage multiple assignments and development projects concurrently to meet R&D timelines.
• Communicate directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Meat Science, Food Science, Food Engineering, Animal Science, Dairy Science, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in product development and commercialization, preferably in meat and/or cheese.
• Understanding of ingredient functionality and interrelationship of ingredients, process, and packaging.
• Excellent communication, influencing, prioritization, and project management skills.
• Strong critical thinking skills and ability to connect to the big picture.

Nice-to-haves

• Direct experience with meat and/or cheese is desired but not a prerequisite.
• Willingness to learn new product categories and processing/packaging areas.
