About the position

The Cutler-Orosi Joint Unified School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher for grades K - 8. The teacher will create a flexible program and environment that fosters learning and personal growth in accordance with each student's ability. The role involves instructing children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth, while adhering to the district-approved curriculum and state standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides learning experiences and teaches the course of study prescribed by the District approved curriculum.
  • Teaches the State Standards.
  • Provides individual and small group instruction to adapt curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities.
  • Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations.
  • Develops lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids.
  • Organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time.
  • Develops a balanced curriculum/instructional program involving appropriate activities designed to encourage pupils to develop skills.
  • Demonstrates subject matter concepts using various instructional aids.
  • Designs learning activities that relate subject matter to the physical world.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior.
  • Instructs students in proper care and use of materials.
  • Evaluates each student's performance and prepares progress reports.
  • Communicates with parents through various means.
  • Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays.
  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members.
  • Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction.
  • Holds parent conferences to discuss individual student progress.
  • Exhibits proper conduct in handling student emergencies.
  • Selects and requisitions instructional materials and maintains inventory records.
  • Diagnoses the English language needs/abilities of pupils.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities.
  • Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator for evaluation.
  • Collaborates with other staff to build a positive school-wide learning environment.
  • Utilizes results of assessments to determine instruction and intervention for students.
  • Participates in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities.
  • Plans, coordinates with, and supervises instructional aides and other paraprofessionals.
  • Participates in faculty and/or District committees and the sponsorship of student activities.

Requirements

  • Valid California Credential or license authorizing service in grade levels and areas assigned.
  • Eligible for and Internship credential.
  • CLAD or equivalent; BCLAD preferred.
  • NCLB qualified.
  • Bachelor's degree, including all courses to meet credential requirements.
  • Student teaching, internship, or full-time teaching experience.
