About the position

The Middle School Science Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing student learning experiences. The teacher will help students make appropriate choices and encourage parental involvement. The position requires teaching 4-9 Science courses aligned with state standards, developing syllabi, course outlines, and assessment plans, and evaluating student outcomes. The teacher will also assess students' language competency levels, provide advisement and recruitment services, and participate in program/division meetings.

  • Develop meaningful educational activities that engage and stimulate student learning
  • Communicate expectations, provide guidance, and show an active interest in student progress
  • Facilitate self-reliance, problem-solving, critical-thinking, creativity, and performance skills
  • Plan collaborative student learning activities that encourage positive peer relationships
  • Collaborate with other staff and share knowledge and resources
  • Uphold the student conduct code and implement effective pupil management procedures
  • Maintain a positive learning environment
  • Help parents/students understand academic objectives, behavioral standards, and performance expectations
  • Consult with support personnel to address student concerns
  • Collaborate with staff to implement and monitor behavior management plans
  • Support an inclusive educational environment for students with disabilities
  • Initiate referrals for student assistance as needed
  • Proctor district testing activities as directed
  • Maintain accurate records and submit reports on time
  • Evaluate student achievement performance and prepare progress reports
  • Respect personal privacy and maintain confidentiality
  • Promote the proper use, care, and security of school property
  • Take precautions to ensure safety and monitor situations that may indicate a problem
  • Report suspected child abuse and/or neglect to civil authorities
  • Supervise non-classroom activities when assigned
  • Participate in staff meetings, conferences, and other required school activities
  • Encourage parent organizations and support school-sponsored activities
  • Pursue growth opportunities that enhance professional performance
  • Strive to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model

Requirements

  • Valid State of Ohio Department of Education License with a 4-9 Science certification
  • A clear BCI/FBI record
