About the position

The Science Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and presenting instructional activities that facilitate student learning in science. This role involves managing instructional time, student behavior, and providing effective instructional presentations. The teacher will also monitor student performance, provide feedback, and interact positively within the educational environment. The position may include supervising teacher assistants and performing non-instructional duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials, supplies, and equipment for each lesson before the start of class.
• Establish and enforce rules and procedures for student behavior and participation.
• Begin lessons with a review of previous materials and introduce new learning objectives.
• Present lessons using clear and understandable language, providing relevant examples and demonstrations.
• Monitor student performance during class activities and provide timely feedback on their work.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and adjust instructional plans as necessary.
• Interact fairly and effectively with students, parents, and the community.
• Carry out assigned non-instructional duties and adhere to school policies.

Requirements

• North Carolina ESL K-12 Licensure preferred.
• Experience in teaching science subjects.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Ability to prepare and present engaging instructional materials.
