About the position

The Science Teacher at Colorado Early Colleges is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in accordance with the school's academic philosophy and objectives. This part-time position involves developing and administering a science curriculum, creating lesson plans, and assessing student learning to foster a conducive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Upholds CEC's beliefs found on the CEC website.
  • Develops and administers Science education curriculum consistent with CEC's academic philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Develops lesson plans, instructional materials, and activities to enhance learning and demonstrate the application of coursework to everyday life.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods accordingly.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student and small group learning by ensuring student conduct conforms with CEC's Student and Family Handbook and CEC policies.
  • Ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Organizes and maintains Infinite Campus (IC) for accurate and complete recordkeeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements, and daily attendance as required in CEC policies.
  • Selects and requisitions appropriate textbooks, instructional aids, supplies, and equipment, and maintains inventory records.
  • Collaborates with other CEC staff members and participates in staff meetings and professional development as requested by the Academic Dean.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and keeps informed of current developments in education.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university applicable to the teaching assignment, OR Endorsement on a Colorado teaching license, OR 36 semester credit hours in the core subject area, OR Passing score on a State Board of Education approved content exam (currently the ETS Praxis Series).
  • Teaching Certification.

Benefits

  • Part-time position with a pay rate of $55 per hour.
