About the position

The Scientific Advisor at Axogen will serve as a key member of the Medical Affairs Scientific Communications group, providing scientific support across various departments including marketing, regulatory, clinical, and new product development. This role is crucial for representing Medical Affairs on new product development teams and ensuring ongoing scientific support for existing products. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance the company's mission of restoring health and improving quality of life through innovative nerve repair solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers expert scientific recommendations for the brand team by partnering with brand managers in planning and developing marketing materials and activities.
  • Maintains current awareness of medical and marketing teams by identifying new published data for specific products and disseminating them to the teams.
  • Reviews and approves promotional and non-promotional material to ensure scientific accuracy.
  • Supports medical affairs projects and activities, including educational symposia and sales training material creation.
  • Handles product inquiries from surgeons and serves as the main scientific reviewer of pre-clinical grant requests.
  • Responsible for clinical literature surveillance and quarterly updates to the clinical bibliography.
  • Manages awarded IIS grants and assists Regulatory with annual CER submissions.
  • Participates in planning stages of new marketing projects, providing scientific expertise and value during scoping activities.
  • Acts as the primary data expert for products, sharing clinical/scientific data and insights with internal teams and healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree; a relevant postgraduate qualification (PhD/research-based MSc/PharmD) preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years industry experience, post-doctoral research and/or practical research/laboratory work experience is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations for medical devices, human tissue, and biologics is beneficial.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable about related pre-clinical models and evaluations.
  • Skilled in experimental study design and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of scientific research principles, practices, and protocols.
  • Ability to design, organize, and coordinate projects, especially literature reviews.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey a compelling value proposition for Axogen's portfolio.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is required.
