About the position

The Scientific Editor will join the editorial team of Cell Chemical Biology, focusing on managing content and shaping the journal's direction. This role involves evaluating research papers, overseeing the peer review process, and engaging with the scientific community to promote the journal's work. The position is fully remote, with an option to work from the Cambridge, MA office if local, and begins as a 2-month contract with potential for extension or conversion.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and editorial team to manage content and develop the journal.
  • Editorially evaluate and make decisions on research papers submitted to Cell Chemical Biology, overseeing the peer review process.
  • Recruit exciting research studies, reviews, and other front matter.
  • Work with authors and reviewers to publish significant scientific work across various topics.
  • Engage with the scientific community at labs and conferences to learn about developments and establish relationships, representing Cell Chemical Biology and Cell Press.
  • Build strong relationships with Cell Press journals on content and collaborative projects.
  • Contribute to broader initiatives.

Requirements

  • PhD in any area of cell biology or a relevant discipline with experience in publishing original scientific research.
  • Broad scientific interests and a love of science with a desire to learn.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and focus on tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration and networking.
