About the position

The Scientist Chemistry position at Katalyst Healthcares & Life Sciences involves conducting research in a laboratory setting, focusing on organic synthesis and pharmaceutical applications. The role requires maintaining high productivity, resolving synthesis challenges, and integrating new literature findings into workflows. The successful candidate will also be responsible for documenting research accurately and adhering to safety and scientific standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high level of productivity in the laboratory setting.
• Resolve organic synthesis challenges effectively.
• Proactively seek out new information in the literature and incorporate it into workflow.
• Conduct air- and moisture sensitive reactions on mg scale.
• Utilize routine purification methods such as flash chromatography and preparative HPLC.
• Interpret NMR and MS spectroscopic data.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date records, including an electronic notebook that documents research according to Client policies.
• Maintain safe laboratory practices and scientific standards.
• Collaborate with functional and technical experts across disciplines to facilitate scientific achievement.
• Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Organic/Medicinal Chemistry with 5+ years' experience, or PhD required.
• Experience in pharmaceutical labs preferred.
• Background in infectious disease research would be a plus.
• Facility with molecular modelling packages such as Schrodinger, MOE, or Cresset is beneficial but not required.
• Experience with data analysis tools such as Spotfire or Star drop is beneficial but not required.
• Pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred.
