The Scientist, Electrical Engineering position at L3Harris in Anaheim, CA, focuses on providing expert-level technical support in electrical and hardware systems for military GPS and Position Navigation and Timing (PNT) technologies. Responsibilities

  • Provides overall hands-on technical expertise in Electrical and Hardware Engineering for NS programs.
  • Recognized as an external and internal expert and thought leader with deep mastery and substantive technical expertise in Electrical RF hardware designs.
  • Ensures a cohesive team and trust within the Hardware Engineering Organization.
  • Communicates within and outside own function to explain and gains cooperation on policies and practices.
  • Makes substantial improvements to processes, systems, and solutions.
  • Plans and establishes goals and objectives for Electrical and Hardware Engineering with direct impact on the short-term and long-term operational results.
  • Leads, directs, coaches, and reviews the work of Electrical and Hardware Engineering personnel to accomplish near-term and long-term operational plans and results.
  • Works under consultative direction against annual goals and objectives to manage large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the organization.
  • Maintains outstanding communication with higher management and with the employees in the organization.
  • Collaborate with other business areas to execute programs and business development.
  • On-site with a majority of time working in hardware labs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience or a Graduate degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • 15+ years of experience in hands-on Electrical Engineering Design, Development, and Build for RF analog and digital hardware systems on Development, Production, and IRAD/CRAD programs.
  • 15+ years of analog RF hardware electrical engineering with experience in L-band RF systems and RF receiver design, including fundamental design knowledge in antenna systems.
  • 15+ years of design and development of high frequency, RF circuitry, and high bandwidth A2D networks.
  • 15+ years of hands-on tuning/re-tuning RF channels from antenna to digitization of the signal.
  • 10+ years of schematics capturing, building and selecting parts, and PCBA layout in the domain of RF, high speed BW circuits, and CERDES design.
  • 10+ years of experience in leading/managing/tracking projects, proposals, processes, and employees.
  • 10+ years of experience in leading teams for successful completion of project objectives within stringent technical, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • 10+ years of experience demonstrating strong verbal and written skills for both the internal team and with customers and program stakeholders.
  • 5+ years of experience in earned value management, metrics development and tracking, and basis of estimates.

Nice-to-haves

  • A typical successful candidate in this role has 20+ years of experience in hands-on Electrical Engineering Development for RF analog and digital hardware systems on Development, Production, and IRAD/CRAD programs.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) to all levels of personnel experience.
  • Experience and understanding in the technical details of GPS, MGNSS, other PNT technology.
  • Expert in High Frequency and RF circuitry to 2GHz on miniature board design.
  • Expert in ASIC design, development, and manufacturing.
  • Expert using Altium Design Studio or Mentor Graphics.
  • Expert with design tools such as Matlab/Simulink, Cameo, Xilinx ISE, Xilinx EDK, ModelSim, P-Spice, Agilent ADS, and Ansys HFSS.
  • Experience with DO-254 and DO-178 system designs.
  • Active DoD SECRET clearance.
