About the position

Aurion Biotech is seeking a highly motivated Scientist I, Cell Therapy Process Development to join our team in Cambridge, MA. This newly created role is critical for implementing, optimizing, and supporting late-stage CMC activities related to the development of cellular therapies involving primary cells. The ideal candidate will work effectively with both internal and external partners in a highly matrixed and cross-functional organization, contributing to the successful launch of Aurion's novel Cell Therapy treatment in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Works on development and refining the cell production process in preparation for Phase 3 and process characterization.
  • Supports technology transfers, regulatory filings, compiles and maintains data as required.
  • Participates in internal and external collaborations to evaluate and implement new process technologies.
  • Participates in project and team meetings to provide updates and enable data-driven decisions.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of cell therapy manufacturing trends and provides recommendations regarding manufacturing process improvement initiatives.
  • Works collaboratively and cross-functionally to support and implement activities to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Complies with all applicable laws and Company policies regarding health, safety, and environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A PhD with 1+ years of industry experience, Master's degree with 2+ years of industry experience, or Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of industry experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on working knowledge of primary cell culture; primary adherent cell culture a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in cell therapy process development.
  • Skilled in characterization and analytics of cell therapy products, including automatic cell counts and flow cytometry.
  • cGMP experience desired but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience working with interdisciplinary and cross-cultural teams.
  • Working knowledge of Quality by Design principles (QbD).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience of scientists.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, adapt to rapid changes, and work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and with other team members.
