About the position

The Data Management Scientist I in Computational Biology is responsible for overseeing data management activities and ensuring high-quality support for biomarker development and oncology companion diagnostic programs. This role involves integrating data from various sources, maintaining data quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to facilitate research and development studies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide data management support for research and development studies.
  • Perform queries on databases using SQL or other tools.
  • Review protocols for cross-project consistency to mitigate potential data management issues.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources, including merging and reformatting datasets and deriving new variables.
  • Identify data errors or inconsistencies and work with personnel to resolve them.
  • Perform data integration and transformation, delivering data tables based on specifications.
  • Manage current and historical data/results to build a knowledgebase ensuring completeness and searchability.
  • Store all datasets, programs, and documentation in appropriate locations for easy reference.
  • Maintain oversight on data quality metrics and data management deliverables.
  • Perform ad-hoc data management and analysis tasks.
  • Collaborate with laboratory scientists, biostatisticians, technologists, and regulatory affairs teams on study design, planning, data preparation, programming, analysis, and presentation of results.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in bioinformatics, computer science, biostatistics, information systems, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in one or several computing software for data programming.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in programming languages such as Python or R.
  • 2+ years of relevant working experience in a programming role, preferably supporting clinical trial studies or biomarker studies in the biopharmaceutical/diagnostics/CRO industry.
  • Knowledge and experience with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills, with the ability to explain complex technical details clearly.
  • Scientific understanding of cancer genetics and genomics.
  • Technical proficiency and creativity.
  • Demonstrated history of independent thinking and meeting project deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
