About the position

The Scientist I position at Cepheid is a full-time role focused on bench-level work in real-time PCR and RT-PCR assay and product development. The role involves planning and executing laboratory research within an FDA-QSR and ISO9001 compliant environment, contributing to the development of innovative diagnostic solutions that improve patient outcomes. Responsibilities

• Plan and execute laboratory research related to PCR and RT-PCR assay development.
• Demonstrate technical proficiency and scientific creativity in laboratory experiments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments to achieve project goals.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain organized work areas.
• Utilize innovative technology to develop strategies for complex in vitro diagnostic assays.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with related work experience.
• Scientific laboratory bench work experience, including pipetting and following written protocols.
• Knowledge of PCR, qPCR, and RT-qPCR techniques.
• Ability to work safely and maintain compliance in the laboratory environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab or JMP.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience handling microbiological and clinical specimens in a BSL-2 environment.
• Experience optimizing Real-time PCR or ddPCR.
