About the position

Pfizer's Oncology Research Unit in La Jolla, California, is seeking a Scientist (non-PhD) to join the Post-Candidate Research group. This role focuses on translating basic discoveries in immune oncology into novel therapeutics, advancing clinical and pre-clinical drug programs, and providing scientific and technical support to generate decision-enabling data for drug combination strategies and mechanisms of action.

Responsibilities

  • Execute in vitro experiments including compound dose curves and immune cell/cancer cell co-culture assays.
  • Perform multi-color flow cytometry staining of cells or tissues and analyze flow cytometry data.
  • Conduct ELISA and MSD assays for cytokines and soluble biomarkers, graph results.
  • Maintain sterile tissue culture of primary cells and cell lines.
  • Keep detailed records for all experiments, reagent stocks, and frozen stocks.
  • Record experimental protocols/results and contribute to technical reports for regulatory filings.
  • Communicate experimental findings in oral and written formats during lab meetings.
  • Contribute to a culture of scientific excellence and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or related discipline with 6+ years relevant post-graduate industry experience or MS degree with 4+ years.
  • Experience in standard aseptic cell culture techniques.
  • Experience in immune cell isolation and characterization using multi-color flow cytometry.
  • Experience in immune cell assays including activation, differentiation, proliferation, and cytotoxicity.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining thorough lab records.
  • Excellent organizational skills and good verbal and written communication.
  • Strong motivation and ability to multi-task in a collaborative team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with T cell or myeloid cell differentiation and functional assays.
  • Experience in writing technical study reports for regulatory filings.
  • Drug Discovery and Oncology experience.
