About the position

The position involves working as a scientist in the Genetic Medicine team at Lilly, focusing on the development of RNA oligonucleotide drug candidates. The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to perform experiments that support the preclinical characterization and evaluation of novel therapeutic molecules. The successful candidate will engage in hands-on laboratory work, including in vivo experiments, and contribute to innovative projects aimed at improving patient health.

Responsibilities

  • Design and plan in vivo experiments to support preclinical characterization of therapeutic molecules.
  • Perform rodent handling and dosing via various injection methods (SC, IV, IP, IT).
  • Conduct small animal stereotaxic surgeries for drug delivery in rodents.
  • Perform tissue dissection, trimming, and processing, and collect bodily fluids.
  • Process tissue samples for gene expression or protein endpoints.
  • Support technology development for therapeutic delivery to the central nervous system.
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges and provide scientific input to project teams.
  • Design and complete experiments and perform data analysis.
  • Communicate work findings in lab reports and team meetings.
  • Accurately record practical work in electronic notebooks to Lilly standards.
  • Assist with general laboratory tasks, including supply management and equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or related field.
  • 1+ years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry or academic laboratory.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing and working with in vivo models and assays.
  • Hands-on competencies in designing and executing in vivo pharmacological experiments.
  • Knowledge of drug delivery concepts.
  • Expertise in in vivo tissue dissection and processing.
  • Experience in gene expression assays (e.g., qPCR) or protein assays (e.g., Western blot, ELISA).
  • Ability to adapt to changing workflows and projects.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration across teams.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in data processing and visualization using software.
