About the position

The Scientist in Medicinal Chemistry at Bristol Myers Squibb will be responsible for designing and synthesizing new agents aimed at treating human diseases, particularly in the areas of Cardiovascular, Neurosciences, Immunology, and Oncology. This role involves applying modern organic chemistry techniques and medicinal chemistry practices to address project-specific challenges, contributing to the company's mission of transforming patients' lives through science.

Responsibilities

  • Design and synthesize new agents for the treatment of human diseases.
  • Apply modern techniques in organic chemistry to solve project-related problems.
  • Utilize current medicinal chemistry practices in the development of new compounds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of academic/industry experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience, or a PhD in Chemistry with no experience.
  • Experience in designing and executing multistep synthesis of complex organic molecules using modern techniques in organic chemistry.
  • Expertise in purification and characterization of organic compounds (Chromatography, NMR, MS, IR spectroscopy).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and understanding of synthetic methods and reaction mechanisms.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • A Ph.D. in organic chemistry with 0-2 years of related research experience.
  • Experience in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to attach a research summary of no more than 3 pages.
