About the position

The Scientist specializing in Microscopy Biology Imaging Technologies & Machine Learning at Sartorius Corporate Research will design and lead projects focused on machine learning solutions to enhance imaging products used in life sciences and biopharmaceutical industries. This role requires collaboration within a diverse global team and involves working with large-scale biological datasets to develop state-of-the-art machine learning tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead technical applied research projects to achieve goals in the Research and Technology Roadmaps.
• Evaluate state-of-the-art knowledge for business potential and translate it into project and product technology areas.
• Build prototypes using state-of-the-art machine learning tools for life sciences applications.
• Implement data science best practices for developing and deploying high-quality machine learning solutions.
• Advise project leads and upper management on project status regularly.
• Collaborate with a global team on respective technology areas.
• Maintain and build strong relationships with internal and external collaborators.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Biology, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Biotech, Engineering, Physics, or related discipline with equivalent research experience, focusing on life science or biotechnology applications.
• 2+ years of experience with cell biology or live cell imaging/live cell analysis.
• 1+ year of experience using deep learning frameworks (such as PyTorch or TensorFlow) and modern computer vision methodology (Object Detection, Tracking, or 3D reconstruction).
• Minimum of 1+ year of experience working with real-world data; experience with microscopy images is a plus.
• Programming knowledge in Python, including knowledge of common data science tools such as Numpy, Pandas, and Matplotlib, and version control using Git.
• Working knowledge of machine learning management systems (e.g., Azure ML) or workflow engines (e.g., MLFlow, Airflow, Metaflow).
