About the position

The position is for a skilled scientist in the Biologics Engineering group at AstraZeneca, focusing on enhancing antibody-based platform technology efforts. The role involves collaboration with diverse scientists to drive technological innovations and execute the engineering of bispecific and multispecific antibodies. The successful candidate will engage in research that combines innovative technology with biology, contributing to the development of life-changing medicines.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a diverse group of scientists across all therapeutic areas to ensure timely progress in research projects.
  • Conceive, design, and execute the engineering of innovative bispecific and multispecific antibodies with improved selectivity and developability.
  • Perform biochemical, biophysical, and functional characterization of bispecific and multispecific modalities.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present data internally and externally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a relevant scientific field with 2+ years of relevant experience in antibody engineering and/or bispecific antibody technologies, or a Master's degree with 0+ years of experience.
  • Experience in molecular cloning and antibody engineering, including design, expression, purification, and biochemical/biophysical characterization of various bispecific antibody formats.
  • Experience in flow cytometry-based instruments and data analysis programs.
  • Experience in tissue culture techniques and functional cell-based assay development.
  • Strong motivation, attention to detail, and ability to think independently in a high-achieving team environment.
  • Track record of strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in engineering antibodies with improved properties (e.g., affinity, solubility, and other attributes related to developability).
  • Background in immunology or cell biology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and effective presentation of complex scientific data to cross-functional and senior management.
