About the position

The Scientist in New Product Development at Entegris will play a crucial role in supporting multiple projects aimed at driving profitable growth within the Deposition and Etch Solutions group. This position involves establishing and scaling up synthesis and purification processes, characterizing properties, and developing packaging for advanced deposition materials used in high-performance semiconductor products. The role requires collaboration with technical management and subject matter experts, as well as hands-on experimentation and documentation of processes and results.

Responsibilities

  • Design experiments to build fundamental understanding of new chemistries including material compatibility and thermal stability.
  • Establish, scale up, and improve processes for inorganic and organometallic material purification.
  • Take a hands-on approach to meet project scope and timing, assisting team members as needed.
  • Collect, interpret, and present technical data within the research and development group and to external customers.
  • Support and lead experimentation for air- and moisture-sensitive inorganic and organometallic precursors for CVD/ALD applications.
  • Maintain and own lab equipment required for the job, such as gloveboxes and fume hoods.
  • Coordinate sample pulling of chemistry samples for lab analysis.
  • Document all experiments, procedures, and results thoroughly, ensuring team compliance.
  • Coordinate post-service exam plans with manufacturing and NPD on returned containers and chemistry.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Master's degree with 5 years' experience or PhD with 3 years' experience in the chemical industry.
  • Good fundamental knowledge of chemistry, including vapor pressure and material stability.
  • Familiarity with materials of construction within the semiconductor industry.
  • Understanding of distillation and sublimation processes on bench scale to multiple kilogram scale.
  • Experience handling air-sensitive compounds and working in gloveboxes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Medium to high volume manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in CVD precursor development with a Master's degree and 3-5 years' experience or a PhD with 1 year of experience.
  • Experience in corrosion and/or material compatibility.
  • Familiarity with data gathering instrumentation.
  • Experience with distillation and/or solid sublimation fundamentals.
  • Mechanical aptitude for setting up lab scale and larger equipment.
