The selected candidate will be expected to perform a variety of tasks including crystallization, crystal optimization, and data collection, while also providing training and support to users of the facility. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can maintain accurate records and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs). The role also involves occasional overnight or weekend work due to the nature of the facility, emphasizing the need for flexibility and teamwork in a fast-paced scientific setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform crystallization, crystal optimization, crystal harvesting, data collection, data processing, structure determination, model building and refinement.
  • Provide general user support and training in various aspects of crystallography.
  • Maintain the in-house x-ray diffractometer and train users on its usage.
  • Provide user support for remote synchrotron data collection.
  • Deliver high quality results and clearly communicate results to stakeholders.
  • Keep detailed records and follow SOPs.
  • Maintain regular attendance during normal business hours.
  • Seek to be a flexible team player ready to join a fast-paced and scientifically rigorous Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific area is required; PhD preferred.
  • For Scientist level: Seven years of relevant post-degree work experience with a Bachelor's degree; Five years with a Master's degree; Three years with a PhD.
  • For Senior Scientist level: Ten years of relevant post-degree work experience with a Bachelor's degree; Eight years with a Master's degree; Six years with a PhD.
