About the position

The Screener for the Pre-Kindergarten program at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is responsible for identifying and recruiting four-year-old children for the CMS Bright Beginnings program. This role involves conducting assessments using diagnostic tools, maintaining student data, and serving as a liaison between families and the school system. The position emphasizes public relations and community engagement to promote the program effectively.

Responsibilities

• Recruits families for participation in the CMS Bright Beginnings program.
• Acts as a liaison between parents and the school system.
• Promotes and maintains public relations by facilitating communication between the local school system and parents.
• Reviews the application process with parents and assists families with additional needs.
• Screens children using a Title I approved screening instrument and the Pre-IPT (International Proficiency Test).
• Coordinates with other public Pre-K programs to screen and enroll identified students.
• Participates in appropriate professional groups, committees, and meetings.
• Maintains student data in the student information system.
• Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education or Child Development.
• One year of increasingly responsible professional experience in education, including direct experience with young children and parents or community agencies.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree in Education or Child Development.
• Three years of increasingly responsible experience in education including work with young children, families, and community agencies.
