About the position
The Screw Machine Operator at Corlett-Turner Inc. is responsible for operating multiple spindle screw machines to manufacture parts for the automotive industry. This role involves reading blueprints, setting up machines, and ensuring that the produced parts meet specified quality standards. The position is available for both 1st and 2nd shifts, with training provided for those on the 2nd shift.
Responsibilities
- Operate one or more multiple spindle screw machines equipped with automatic indexing and feeding mechanisms.
- Read blueprints or job orders for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
- Position and secure specified collects, bushings, and stock pushers onto the stock feeding mechanism.
- Load bar stock into the feeding mechanism.
- Install and adjust specified cams, gears, and stops to control stock and tool movements at each station.
- Position and secure tools in tool holders.
- Set cutting speeds and feed rates.
- Cycle the machine through settings, stopping and adjusting tool positions as necessary.
- Start the machine, observe operation, and inspect first run and sample work pieces to ensure conformity to specifications.
- Replace worn tools and operate a bench grinder to sharpen tools.
Requirements
- Entry-level position with no prior experience required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job orders.
- Basic mechanical skills to set up and adjust machines.
